Picayune Main Street, Inc. Manager, Reba Beebe was featured in the new
Cartoon character map for Pearl River County.

February-
Purchased fence material for fence around Shay Engine on Hwy 11- PMHS High
School Student Kevin Hillery as a Senior Class Project installed the fence.
Materials were paid for through fundraisers throughout the year.

March- Egg Drop was
held at the Picayune Municipal Airport. Our Egg Drop was featured in
the magazine- “Strange and Unusual Events Around the South” and also
featured and duplicated by a community in Illinois.

Picayune Item featured
the Picayune Street Fair in the first edition of their new magazine Pearl
River County the month of April.

Board of Directors also
voted to assist with sales of bricks for the Veteran’s Memorial in front of
Historical City Hall.

May 5- Bank Plus and
Picayune Main Street, Inc. sponsored the meal for the Celebration Tea for
Relay for Life Cancer Survivors.

May - Met for the first
time in Poplarville with community leaders to discuss forming a Pearl River
County Tourism entity.

Picayune, MS was
invited to become a Preserve America Community- Diane Miller, City Manager
Assistant and Picayune Main Street, Inc. Manager met with Michelle Jones of
MSU and representative of Preserve America Community to fill out application
for Picayune.

July- Requested
permission to re open a Farmer’s Market at Jack Read Park. Permission
was given with days and times for the market to open the first week in
August.

November – Purchased 12
barricades for the Picayune Police Department-Funding for purchase was
raised from a golf tournament held at Millbrook Country Club in Picayune.

September 9, 2007
Purchased 18 new benches for the downtown with funds raised during a Turkey
Shoot at the American Legion.

Picayune Main Street,
Inc. was commissioned by the Mayor and City Council to sell corporate
squares and bricks for the new Intramodal Station- “Train Depot”.

October 18, 2007 Held
the first annual Health and Nutrition Fair at Farmer’s Market.

Farmers Market also
paid for additional lighting at Jack Read Park and purchased 2 new picnic
table that can be used for events held at Jack Read Park.

October 26- Picayune
Main Street, Inc and Picayune Chamber of Commerce hosted FAM Tour when the
tour came to Picayune. Downtown merchants donated items for the best goody
bags ever handed out in FAM tours.

Mayor Greg Mitchell
read a letter to the group gathered at the FAM Tour from Governor Haley
Barbour with the news a CDBG grant in the amount of $2,178.882.00 for
Community Revitalization.

Picayune Main Street,
Inc. received a $25,000.00 grant from MSU – this grant was used for a Carl
Small Town Workshop- Pattie Brantley a grant writer with Neel Schaffer
attended the workshop and was very interested in assisting Picayune Main
Street, Inc. to seek funding for our downtown revitalization efforts- hence
the above mentioned grant was awarded provided the city complete
environmental requirements.

Legion with a Poker Run raising $335.00 for Meals on Wheels

Hosted a Christmas
Luncheon for City Workers at Ryan’s.

Members Donated
$755.00 for Christmas Gifts for children in the community.

Purchased 20 new trash
barrels from profits raised during Bi Annual Street Fair for use during
special events in Picayune .

Applied for a Tourism
Disaster Recovery Grant for Tourism events in Pearl River County and was
awarded $76,928.50 to be used over a 2 year period for advertising tourism
events.
